Letter from the Deputy Secretary-Generals

Sec-Gen

As X-MUN 2024 prepares to commence, the famous words of Napoleon Bonaparte, "There is nothing we can do" resonate with us deeply. Everyone has related with the French ruler, when faced with a crisis. However, years of MUNs have given the both of us a way out of this feeling of helplessness, allowing us to creatively and resolutely navigate through the intricate web of challenges we encounter. We hope that this edition of X-MUN will allow you to do the same.

That being said, ladies and gentlemen, it is our greatest pleasure to welcome you to the 8th edition of X-MUN. After a brief hiatus, it is with great excitement and enthusiasm that we reconvene to carry on our legacy of fostering communication, cooperation, and diplomacy. X-MUN has always served as a platform for opinions to be heard, ideas to be exchanged, and strategies to be crafted.

The five committees being simulated in this edition of X-MUN have been carefully chosen in order to test crisis management, negotiation capabilities and the ability to make your voices heard. Ranging from combating terrorism, a force which jeopardizes democracy and national security within the United Kingdom, to tackling the plethora of multifaceted challenges posed by organized crime syndicates prevalent in the Americas, the stakes have never been higher.

In such critical times, it’s up to you delegates to tackle every obstacle thrown at you, instead of sitting on the shore, clueless like Napoleon. It falls upon you to steer the wheel, fight your battles and write your history, because that’s how leaders are created. Are you ready? We look forward to finding out at X-MUN 2024.

Legatum Revixit, the legacy is revived,
Parth Singhania & Agnidip Banerjee,
Co-Deputy Secretary Generals,
X-MUN ‘24.
